How Governance Will Work

Flow of Control

An overview of the governance process, from initial idea to a successful proposal with subsequent implementation.

Idea Formulation

Community Input

Both the Bricklayer team and the broader community are essential for generating innovative ideas and collecting valuable data for proposals. This collaborative approach ensures diverse perspectives, fostering innovation and inclusivity in decision-making.

Bricklayer Team Reporting

Regular quarterly reports track progress, evaluate ongoing projects, and inform the community about the latest developments. These reports provide data & analysis that can be used to generate new ideas and refine existing proposals, ensuring continuous improvement and transparency.

Community Discussion

Forum

Once the idea is created, it is introduced as a discussion point on the Bricklayer Forum. This platform allows community members to discuss, critique, and refine ideas, ensuring they are well-considered and robust before moving forward. Introduction in certain topics will require varying levels of staked $MRTR.

Temp Check

A preliminary temperature check gauges community interest and feasibility. If the proposal fails this initial check, it is rejected. Successful proposals move to the next stage for further refinement and consideration.

$MRTR Utility

Staking

Community members stake their $MRTR tokens to participate in the governance process. Staking tokens not only demonstrates commitment but also provides voting power & yield towards the holder for such activities.

Delegating

Token holders can delegate their voting power to trusted representatives. These delegates compile voting power, ensuring that even those who cannot participate directly can still have their voices heard through their chosen representatives.

Credits

Voting power, either directly staked or delegated, is converted into voting credits. These credits are used to participate in governance decisions, ensuring a fair and democratic process.

Voting power will be enhanced by participants who have ownership of the Bricklayer DAO. The exact multiplier is yet to be defined, but will not violate the quadratic rules enforced.

NFT

The NFT will allow holders to boost their voting power, though this will not violate the rules of quadratic voting. This is a non-financially benefit offered to those passionate about this project, due to way this NFT will initially be released to the community.

Governance

Quadratic Voting

Quadratic voting ensures fair voting by giving more weight to minority opinions. This method balances the influence of large stakeholders and smaller ones, promoting more equitable and representative outcomes.

Quartey & Annual AMAs

Quarterly Ask Me Anything (AMA) sessions provide opportunities for the community to engage with the team, ask questions, and receive clarifications. These sessions foster transparency and build trust within the community.

Approval

Proposals that pass through the governance process successfully receive final approval. This stage signifies the community's consensus and the proposal's readiness for implementation.

Emergency Actions

In urgent situations, proposals can be fast-tracked as emergency proposals. These receive expedited consideration to address critical issues swiftly. Proposals deemed unsuitable or harmful can be rejected quickly through an emergency rejection process, safeguarding the community's interests.

Final Review

Implementation

Once approved, proposals move to the implementation phase, where the necessary actions are taken to bring the proposal to fruition.

Archiving

Proposals that do not pass various checks or are deemed unfeasible are rejected and archived. This ensures that only the most viable and beneficial ideas are pursued, maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the governance process.
